Enter to Win a $100 Best Buy Gift Card from Samsung & BlogHer
This giveaway has now ended. Thanks for entering!
When we started posting recipes on our blog last summer we really wanted a spot to keep our favorite recipes where I know I’d never lose them. And S wanted to be able to actually find the recipe when I said, “hey can you grab the recipe for the lemon blueberry pancakes?” ya know, without digging through a book full of little scraps of paper. As a bonus we got to share our favorite recipes with you guys and it got us to get a bit more creative with dinner a few nights a week.
I usually set my computer up on the kitchen, which is probably a little like playing with fire. You know one of these days I’m going to get a hunk of blue cheese stuck in between “G” and “H” and that’s going to be inconvenient and stinky. So when I saw a promo for the new Samsung 4-Door LCD Refrigerator with Apps that has an 8” LCD display with built-in wifi I started thinking about just how convenient it would be to able to browse though all the recipes on the Epicurious app to find all sorts of fabulous inspiration for dinner. S and I could stand there in the kitchen at 6:30 when we’re absolutely starving and flip through dozens of recipes, each one even more drool worthy than the last. How much easier would it be to answer, “what do you feel like for dinner?” when you have a screen full of fabulous recipes right there in the kitchen where all the magic happens? Seems like the perfect way to avoid one of those low blood-sugar arguments to me!
Apart from having access to apps full of recipes, with the Samsung fridge we’d also be able to leave each other notes right on the fridge. Maybe then I’d get S to tell me we’re out of peanut butter before I have five minutes to get out the door and Feeney needs cookies and peanut butter in his treat cone so he doesn’t eat a tummy full of magazines while I’m out. Or even better, we’d be able to keep a running tally of what’s in the fridge so those mangoes hidden in the back of the bottom drawer don’t turn to expensive piles of mush before we eat them. Or we could just list those things we wish were in the fridge…like dozens of lobsters just ready to be made into delicious lobster rolls….
I’m sure my little fridge fantasy is just the tip of the iceberg (or iceberg lettuce in the special veggie drawer) so here’s the fun part: we’ve teamed up with Samsung and BlogHer to give away a $100 Best Buy gift card. All you need to do enter to win is comment below and tell us what your dream appliance to solve some vexing problem in your life would be. Magic laundry folder? Self cleaning carpet? Fridge with a cool LCD screen and wifi built right in?

My dream appliance is a self-organizing refrigerator that accepts return items through a trap door for energy efficiency and the frig knows where to put it and you request items by voice requests and the item comes out the same trap door. No more science experiments lurking in the back of the shelf since this frig knows when to reject out of date items and generates a printout for your shopping list on demand.

My dream appliance would be an energy efficient range! I cook a lot, and I know that my stove is a major chunk of my electricity usage (after A/C and heat, of course).
ReplyDeleteMine is a child locking feature for a refrigerator. This is be a HUGE hit for me. Meaning you can push a button that locks the fridge so little kiddos like mine can't open the doors, break the shelves, waste food and energy, and more. :)
ReplyDeleteI also wouldn't mind a dishwasher that scrubbed my dishes, washed them, and put them in the dishwasher for me. :)

I wish my fridge had a "scanner" in it. So that when I put something in it, it would scan it. And when I was out...it would let me know!
ReplyDeleteI would love a stove that had two separate ovens so that I can do cake or cookies in one while doing biscuits or bread in the other. Since everything has different temps, I feel like I spend a lot of time waiting for one thing to get done so I can put the next in the oven - especially around the holidays.
ReplyDeletea fridge that has filtered water that will fit in our 31" space...isn't that lame? but that's really what would make me happy!
ReplyDeletecalunney[at]gmail[dot]com
I was going to say a self-cleaning toilet, but I don't think that qualifies as an appliance. So I'd settle for a ceramic stove top that cleans itself. I'm slowly losing the battle with mine. :)

ReplyDeleteDream appliance... oh *swoon* would be a kitchen that worked together... very space age.. push of a button the TOP of the stove would self clean (you should see what my family of 8 can do to the TOP of my stove)! The dishwasher would be a smart washer and 'know' at what level it needed to wash AND would use natural products to do so. The fridge, you hit the nail on the head! A fridge that can keep tally (crazy i know -- don't think a computer on the planet can keep up with my family of 8!)of what is in the fridge, grocery list, recipe list to match the grocery list, a list of favorites for each of the family members... and so on and so on. That right there would create a less 'vexing' Mom! Cause when Mom is unhappy in the kitchen.... well it's never a good thing ;)
ReplyDeleteMy dream appliance would be a single wash/dry machine in every room in the house. With easy instructions so everyone could do their own laundry!
ReplyDeleteMy dream appliance would rinse the dishes, put them in the dishwasher, and then put them back in the cabinet.

I need a machine that not only will wash and dry clothes, but iron, fold, put away and do the occasional repair too (missing button, hem, etc)! Basically I need my own personal Rosie. LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat!
ReplyDeleteMy dream washing machine would automatically wash and dry the clothes by itself. The user (me) sorts soiled laundry in bins. When a bin reaches a full load, the washing machine adds the pre-set laundry additives for that type of laundry and then empties the bin into the washer and washes accoding to pre-determined cycle for that type of laundry. When the washing has finished, the machine dries the clothes. A few minutes before the laundry is dry, the dryer sends a text notifying the user (me) that clothes are about ready.
